Under the supervision of Director of Homebase Services and in conformance with acceptable professional practice with the agency's program definition and policies, the Family Therapist I will provide direct counseling and casework services to clients and families while performing administrative tasks in conformance with agency procedures.
Provide intensive services in the family home exploring the nature of their problems, while providing clinical assessment of the family, including identification of strengths, support systems, and barriers. Develop and implement the treatment plan, working closely with CPS case managers. Transport children and/or families as needed and as required by the case plan. Flexible in scheduling time to provide services to clients which includes being available to the clients during evening and weekend hours as necessary. Provide needed advocacy for families and individuals in the system and to model a specific behavior related to parenting, anger management, child nurturance, etc. Teach a particular skill, such as child management, home management, employment preparation, communication, stress management and other life skills. Must maintain all of the functions for each case as assigned by supervisor.
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy or a related field with 0-3 years experience. Demonstrated ability to work with families of diverse populations, including those of various functioning levels. Familiarity with the child welfare system. Experience doing skill building and psycho-educational work. Experience working with children and families.
