Come join the DES Team!The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Nurse-Direct Care Settings.
DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven.
These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
Job Duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assesses health needs and completes a nursing assessment of members with developmental disabilities; makes nursing diagnosis and submits to designated departments.
Participates in fact findings related medical issues; completes monitoring of medical care; monitors medical administration systems; provides feedback.
Notes orders and prepares reports for basic care, nursing assessments, and Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
Completes utilization review on caseload and documents on-going medical needs; submits to designated department; discharge and admission planning.
Examines and analyzes medical records and charts to ensure quality care.
Participates in the development of policies and procedures and related problem solving.
Develops and provides education classes for staff.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge in:
Nursing theory and practice, particularly as related to Developmental Disabilities Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) and State Licensing requirements Title XIX federal regulations and licensing standards State Nurse Practice Act Agency and Division State-Operated Services policy and procedures Member condition and medical/physical changing care needs Services offered in community, including primary health care providers and educational material resources.
Interdisciplinary team planning processSkills in:
Nursing assessment (all skills allowed by scope of practice) Providing appropriate treatment in emergency situations Making sound medical decisions.
Time management, and interpersonal communication Communicating clearly and concisely in writing and verbally Providing formal instruction Developing, analyzing, and implementing treatment care plans Effective problem-solvingAbility to:
Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies.
Make independent decisions regarding member health concerns.
Present training material in a clear and precise manner Respond to medical issues/inquires in a professional manner.
Work with professional and non-professional staff to ensure health and safety of residents.
Selective Preference(s):
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
At least 1 year experience in providing professional hands-on nursing services to individuals with developmental disabilities and at least 1 year of experience in professional community nursing.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
