The HR Benefits/LOA Specialist administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers.
The HR Benefits/LOA Specialist provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) entry, COBRA administration, FMLA, and other leave administration.
Schedule This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.
Primarily in-office.
What Your Primary Responsibilities Would Be:
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping and proper deductions.
Ensures that benefit plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are adhered to.
Resolves day-to-day benefit-related questions and concerns.
Educates staff on details of benefit plans to assist with best utilization of benefits.
Timely completes new hire checklist and enters new hire employee and independent contractor information into the HRIS.
Assists employees with general human resources matters such as payroll, hiring procedures, and company policy and procedure; referrals are made to specialists when necessary.
Processes and validates pay changes, leaves of absence, benefit changes etc.
Manages the Benefits Hotline and voicemail box.
Processes and ensures COBRA administration requirements through notifying eligible persons and communicating with third party administrator to enroll eligible participants and/or terminate coverage; ensures coverage is terminated with carriers once eligible participant is no longer electing COBRA benefits.
Oversees day-to-day administration of DMG's leave of absence program including FMLA and Medical LOA or general LOA.
Responds to requests for verifications of employment (VOEs) from external parties.
Assists HR Department in maintaining accurate and complete personnel records.
Ensures confidentiality and retention protocol are followed.
Communicates benefit enrollment information to new employees and follows up to ensure enrollment is completed timely.
Completes termination checklists and processes terminations of employment and benefits within HRIS and the benefit administration systems.
Assists with annual benefit renewal process including enrollment procedures.
Interprets and applies established HR policies, ensuring consistency companywide and compliance with Federal and State employment laws.
The Successful Candidate Will Possess:
Minimum of 1 year FMLA and benefits experience required.
Knowledge and/or experience with HR, Benefit, and HRIS systems preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred.
Professional certification or pursuit of certification (preferred) DMG's Employee Health Requirements:
As a condition of employment District Medical Group (DMG) requires each employee to remain compliant with mandatory employee health (EH) standards.
TB, and Influenza Immunizations or approved declinations are required for this role.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
