00Job TypeUnclassifiedDepartmentSheriffAbout the PositionThe Chief Information Officer (CIO) has primary responsibility for the operations of the Technology Bureau, which manages and supports all major information and communications technology for the Maricopa County Sheriff s Office (MCSO).
The CIO provides executive leadership, including setting the vision, strategy, and priorities for information technology investments in support of agency executive staff.
The CIO will ensure technology and communication innovations align and advance the vision and strategic direction of the Sheriff s Office of one of the fastest growing counties in the nation.
The CIO leads the planning and deployment of current and emerging technology, partnering with agency leadership to identify and coordinate bureau efforts to meet business needs for users in enforcement, detention, and administration.
This role is responsible for budget development for all IT initiatives and operational support, identifying and establishing organizational policies, procedures, technical standards, and business processes.

Qualifications:
EducationBachelor s Degree in Technology, Computer science, or related field.
ExperienceEight (8) years of increasingly responsible information technology or related technical experience with four (4) years of IT managerial experience.
Combined education and experience qualificationsPostgraduate degrees or professional level-related experience may substitute for the education or experience on a year-for-year basis.
Other requirements Must possess a valid Arizona driver s license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
Training that may be provided on-the-job:
FEMA NIMS IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.
Our Preferred Candidate has Master s Degree in Information Technology, Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience implementing formal IT frameworks (e.
g.
, ITIL, COBIT, ISO 31000).
Direct management experience of a large IT operation.
Information technology experience supporting a Law enforcement entity.
Project management certification.
CISSP, PMP, CompTIA Network+, or Project
Essential Job Tasks(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
) Directs the work of and manages the overall operations of the Technology Bureau, including all phases of technology projects from definition to design, architecture, implementation, testing, support, and maintenance.
Evaluates and improves the delivery of services using technology processes.
Provides exceptional customer service and promotes a customer-focused culture in the Technology Bureau.
Oversees and directs all IT programs, services, and policies and considers alternative technology strategies as necessary.
Directs the implementation of IT initiatives including migration from legacy systems, new software and hardware installation, and integration projects.
Researches and evaluates emerging technologies and recommends implementation to support identified business requirements in the Sheriff s Office.
Reviews all hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts related to projects, soliciting involvement, and participation of other Bureau resources as appropriate.
Represents the Sheriff s Office in meetings and as a member of various County and State criminal justice committees.
Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures involving technical standards, change management, and project management.
Guides IT managers to ensure adherence to procurement and planning requirements, compliance with budget procedures, and technological standards of the organization.
Prepares and presents technical and non-technical data and information to stakeholders, including Sheriff s Office and County management, law enforcement agencies, community members, and other officials.
Ensures alignment of IT strategies with Sheriff s Office mission, strategic direction, and objectives.
Ensures IT Bureau effectiveness through staffing, including hiring, training, coaching/counseling, and promoting an engaged workforce.

Ability to Establish and maintain successful working relationships with County, State, and Federal officials, departmental managers, and other criminal justice agencies.
Communicate effectively in oral and written format to customers and business stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge.
Apply innovative thinking combined with understanding of emerging technologies to address business needs and provide services to a large employee population.
Exhibit strong business acumen with a solid foundation in information technology.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
