Responsibilities:
Effectively evaluates and resolves coverage issues for commercial and residential property and inland marine claims for assigned region with availability to assist as needed in all other regions. Investigates, evaluates, negotiates and resolves property-related damages of $300,000 (aggregate) and aboveMay adjudicate some of the companys largest and/or most complex property claimsResponsible for all coverage determinations, negotiations, reserving and settlement within established authority including complex business income losses. Provides required reports to Claims, Underwriting, Reinsurance and Actuarial on significant exposure cases. Responds to catastrophe claims handling in accordance with company CAT plan. Effectively and efficiently manages vendors and expenses. Provides training in coverage or estimating and direct assistance to regional CMS as may be requested by management. Reports on all cases going to trial on a timely basis and attend portions of litigation or trials when summoned or when requested by management. Provides mentoring, direction and leadership to subordinate colleagues. Ensures proper referrals and timely updates to appropriate Reinsurer(s). Must be able to drive an automobile to travel within territoryCar travel represents approximately 25-50% of employees time and a valid drivers license.Job
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience preferred Requires a minimum of 5 years claims experience and a minimum of two years experience handling large property claims. Requires thorough knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines coverages Experience with Xactimate or other computer-based damage estimating software Experience in complex coverage analysis and significant large loss evaluations; Superior communication and strategic negotiation and claim disposition skills along with proven problem-solving skills; Excellent presentation skills; Moderate proficiency with standard business-related software (including Microsoft Outlook, Work Excel, and PowerPoint. Sufficient keyboarding proficiency to enter data accurately and efficiently Must possess or secure and maintain appropriate state adjuster license(s) and continuing education credits. Must have valid state-issued drivers license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile. Must have the ability to work varying shifts.
