Sensata Technologies' Qinex Division business is a leading supplier of connectors and thermal solutions for the semiconductor and other adjacent markets.
This division of Sensata services the back in semiconductor test market supporting the world leaders in advanced semiconductor package test, burn-in, and IC package characterization.
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our team of highly skilled engineering professionals.
Key responsibilities include overall leadership of engineering team, management of the design and product development process, resource planning (people, capital and expenses), competitive benchmarking, and technology trend tracking.
The ideal candidate has a strong track record of engineering success.
He/she must be experienced in managing an engineering team including mechanical, thermal, electrical, and software disciplines, possess sound business acumen, and work well in a highly dynamic and cross-functional team-based environment to create system infrastructure.
Ensures that hardware and/or software are designed and installed in a manner that meets the needs of the organization and semiconductor clients.
The position reports to the Director of Qinex and is located in Phoenix, AZ.
General ResponsibilitiesLead the engineering team through a structured new product development process that delivers innovative, cost effective and timely new product introductions.
Work cross-functional with sales, marketing, product management and operations team to identify and lead the execution of product improvement and new product opportunities that drive profitable growth.
Thrive in a relatively close knit and fast-paced development environment with complex schedule, budget and technical challenges.
Work closely with customers to understand their needs, requirements and expectations regarding product enhancements and to identify new product opportunities.
Work directly with customers to address product application challenges and product performance issues.
Develop and execute technology roadmaps aligned with product management's product roadmaps that together drives a winning product portfolio.
Benchmark competitors' products and develop insight into their technical strategy.
People management and talent development of team members i.

recruitment, retention, succession planning, performance improvement and employee relations.
Develop the engineering organization by building effective teams, structures, and standardized processes that can support increase in business scale and complexity.
Define strategies to drive quality and lean engineering improvements.
Experience and
Qualifications:
BS/MS in engineering.
MBA highly desired.
Minimum 5 years of engineering leadership experience.
Strong product design and development experience in battery power management, thermal product solutions, hardware electronics and/or embedded software.
Experience developing and working with microcontrollers, microprocessors for peripheral interface is desirable.
Experience with heat pumps, refrigeration, and thermal fluid flow is a desirable skill set as well.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects, customer relationships, implement standardized processes and best practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration and team building skills.
Experienced with problem solving & process improvement tools such as:
DMAIC, Lean, Agile, etc.
Awareness of Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturability and Assembly, Design of Experiments.
Functional understanding of advanced quality planning tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.
Ability to work across all functions and levels of an organization; experience in a matrix environment preferred 10-25% travel required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
