Vehicle Description 1965 THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE.
This nice 1965 Thunderbird convertible has belonged to the same owner couple since the 80's.
He passed away in 1995 and his widow kept the car and she did drive it every now and again, not many miles per year but enough to keep it in great running and driving condition.
The car was repainted 30-35 years ago and at that time the rocker panels were replaced, the original engine and transmission were rebuilt at around the same time.
The car is 98%-99% rust free, there's a few small spots of rust in only a few places, the biggest being the bottom of the right side quarter panel, behind the rear wheel.
The paint is good driver quality, the interior is original since 1965 and in very good condition still.
There's a small crack in the vinyl on the side of the left front seat, se pictures.
The Thunderbird just had 3 power window motors replaced and the regulators rebuilt to the tune of almost $2000 so they are all working fine.
The factory A/C is not working, there's no belt for the compressor and it is unknown if the A/C would work after a belt is installed and the system serviced.
We'll leave that for the new owner.
The car runs and drives very well, the engine runs strong, the trans shifts as it should, brakes are great.
The tires are still very good and the radio even plays still.
The convertible top system works well also.
This Thunderbird is ready to go cruising as you see it, it is not a show car but instead a car that can be driven and enjoyed without having to spend any time or money on it.
And it has been lovingly taken care of for the last 35-40 years by the same owner couple.
The Thunderbird is our restoration shop in Phoenix, Arizona.
