Vehicle Description This is a beautiful original 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham that can be enjoyed as-is as a preserved survivor or a great car to take to the next level.
This is the only known Brougham that was delivered when new to France, and has been said that it was delivered new to Coco Chanel in Paris.
The Brougham's name is now simply Coco.
The interior is all original and gorgeous! Most all of the important accessories function well and, it has the vanities in the glovebox as well as in the rear seat armrest.
With Body No.
659, this is the 259th of the 304 Broughams made in 1958.
The elegant and deep Ebony black paint (Paint Code 110) is a combination of original and touched up areas and today has gorgeous luster.
But it has many areas that are showing some of the normal cracking associated with the lead body filler used by Cadillac in 1958.
Overall, it has a consistent patina with the rest of the Brougham.
The chrome and stainless are in overall good original condition and the bumpers are devoid of chrome and are in polished aluminum.
Coco Chanel was one of the originators of the simple, understated, little black dress.
And our Coco here exemplifies this in all respects.
The El Dorado badges have been removed from the sides and the rear of the car, as well as the rear door spear trim.
We love her Light Gray Mojave Cloth complimented by Dark Gray leather (Trim No.
1101), especially with the designer styled seating.
Even the original lush custom light gray Karakul Pile carpet looks nice, with little signs of wear.
It is all original and in excellent condition.
This helps substantiate the 54,000 miles on the odometer.
The vanities are quite amazing and impressive.
The vanities include the full cosmetic compact, cigarette case, tissue case, magnetic shot glasses in the glovebox, as well as the upgraded correct vintage Chanel No.
5 perfume, Cross pen accessorized writing notebook and beveled mirror in the rear armrest.
These are authentic and a mixture of original accessories and correct replacements.
Coco was built on March 21st, 1958 and was ordered with many unusual and unique features.
Unusual things, such as Firestone tires were specified and many of the normal badges were deleted from her.
Coco has been owned by her owner in Southern California since 1985.
He acquired her from the famed Andrew Darling collection where she sat next to nine Rolls-Royces and a Duesenberg.
Coco still had her original, dealer installed plastic seat covers installed, preserving the gorgeous interior.
She has been awarded many awards over the years and was featured in a 14-page Motor Trend Classic article from March/April 2006.
The venerable 365 CID V8 delivers 335 hp through its triple Rochester carburetors.
It runs and drives well and nearly all the accessories work.
We love the electrically operated trunk opener and closer.
The air conditioning blows cold at 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
The automatic seat works, the memory seat function works and the seat is adjustable through the controls.
Even the clock works.
This car does not suffer from a host of electrical gremlins that can often be the case.
The engine compartment has benefited from some detailing.
You can see from the photos that it is a mix of original preserved and restored.
The oil pressure and operating temperature are good and the car feels solid on the road.
Everything feels tight and in good operating order.
The air suspension was long ago removed in favor of standard springs.
Coco comes complete with a host of manuals, including the rare Brougham specific owner's manual and shop manuals.
