For Sale: 1947 Cadillac Series 75 in Phoenix, Arizona for sale in Phoenix, AZ

1 of 50
Vehicle Description This is an elegant example of a nearly all original and pristine 1947 Cadillac Series 75 Touring Sedan.
With a mere 42,700 miles from new and two-family ownership, this has been incredibly well cared-for and loved as rarely seen today.
This is an outstanding opportunity to be the next caretaker for this beautiful survivor.
This Cadillac was purchased new on December 27 th , 1947 at Central Cadillac Co.
in Milwaukee, WI by Ms.
Cora F.
Swallow.
Ms.
Swallow would keep it until her passing in about 1962.
It was then acquired by her granddaughters husband, Mr.
Walter Mead of the Mead Paper empire.
Mr.
Mead continued this Cadillacs fastidious maintenance and kept her in his friends vast estates mews, that of Mr.
Augie Pabst (of Pabst blue Ribbon and racing fame).
In 1979, Mr.
Mead offered the Cadillac for sale at $10,000, firm, a stately sum at the time.
The car was well known in the Midwest by classic car collectors.
It was considered to be a virtually new car, having one family ownership, chauffer driven and accumulating a mere 20,000 miles.
Through extended negotiations, it was then acquired by its present owner who is a well-known and respected collector of Classics and a long history of showing cars at Pebble Beach and other top events.
This Cadillac has earned its CCCA Senior First (Badge No.
1125) and has successfully completed about 10 CCCA CARavans under its present ownership.
It is still in nearly showroom condition today, having now accumulated 42k miles and remaining largely original.
The livery is gorgeous in its original Black with beautiful chrome and stainless steel.
Certain chrome pieces show light pitting that is detectable upon close inspection.
The paint is largely all original with only one small area of rub through, on the drivers side of the hood.
The body and bumpers are free of dents or scratches.
The gray wool broadcloth is in excellent condition today.
About 12 years ago, the cotton threads on the seams of the seats started to disintegrate from time.
The front and rear seats were reupholstered in the exact wool broadcloth as the rest of the interior.
All other aspects of the interior are original and in gorgeous condition.
The steering wheel looks and feels like a NOS example, a reflection of its care over the years.
The windows are all powered, it has the optional AM radio and front and rear heaters.
The rear passenger compartment has dual vanities and numerous storage compartments.
The engine compartment is in beautiful condition and is correct, even down to the hose clamps.
The venerable 346 CID V8 delivers 150 hp and its power is delivered through the GM four-speed HydraMatic automatic transmission.
The 136-inch wheelbase provides a beautifully comfortable ride and the drivetrain has been perfectly reliable through the years and has been well maintained.
It was recently treated to a complete servicing and tune-up by a specialist in Scottsdale and the wide white wall radials are also newer with almost no miles.
In the engine compartment are also the dual air horns.
Included in the trunk, is the original jack in its original burlap bag.
The Hagerty Value guide shows a No.
1 example at $50,600 and a No.
2 example at $48,100.
We have this competitively priced as with its provenance, low-miles, documentation and condition, it is easily a No.
2 example.
This is Style No.
47-7519 and is Fleetwood Body Number 231 out of a total Series 75 production of 300.
